Full Staff

Half Staff

On Memorial Day, we pay tribute to those fallen heroes who have died while protecting our country.

To honor the dedication and service of all of our service members Governor Carney requests that the proper protocol for the U.S. Flag Code be followed this Memorial Day. Flags are to be lowered to half-staff on Monday morning, May 25 for Memorial Day and then returned to full-staff at noon.

State buildings and facilities that are staffed on Monday are requested to observe this protocol.

Foot Protection

Proper footwear is a fundamental part of our Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) safety program. OSHA requires that employees wear protective footwear when working in arears where there is a danger of foot injuries. Many of our units within FREAS require that approved safety shoes be worn at all times. Safety shoes should always be worn when walking through a project construction site. Please see the FREAS SharePoint page under Safety for more information on this topic and a list of all previous Weekly Safety Messages issued this year.

Job Site Fire Safety

When working on campus, whether it’s inside a building or out on the grounds, always be aware ofthe potential hazards that may exist at your job location. Fire safety is one of our major concerns. Although EHS does a great job with the Fire Prevention & Protection Programs, it is the responsibility of every employee to know how to prevent fires, and what response is expected should a fire occur. Please see the FREAS SharePoint page under Safety for more information on this topic and a list of all previous Weekly Safety Messages issued this year.

Fatigue

We often make light of how little sleep we get on a regular basis. The over-worked / over-tired condition has unfortunately become the norm for many of us. Those employees who work shift-work are particularly susceptible. The affects of fatigue can have an adverse impact on all areas of our lives. Please do what you can to ensure you are getting the proper amount of rest each day. Please see the FREAS SharePoint page under Safety for more information on this topic.
