Bloodborne Pathogens are a potential exposure threat to you both on and off the job. Use Universal or Standard Precautions if your job puts you at exposure risk. If you come in contact with blood or other body fluids that may contain blood through eyes, mouth mucous membranes or cuts/sores, follow these steps:
- Flush the area with water for 20 minutes
- Wash exposed area with soap and water (except eyes)
- Report the exposure to your supervisor and EHS immediately
- Save potentially contaminated objects
- Get medical care ASAP
Procedures are available on the EHS Website
