Hand Tool Safety

Tools are a necessary requirement on most jobs, both indoors and outdoors. Basic hand tools, if used improperly or not kept in good condition, can result in an injury. Injuries can also occur when workers fail to use the tool for its intended purpose or forget to inspect them before use. Never use a hand tool that is damaged, broken or badly corroded. Ask your supervisor if the tool can be replaced. Please see the FREAS SharePoint page under Safety for more information on this topic.

Road Work Zone Awareness

The DOT reminds all drivers to watch out for state, local and private sector employees who work on our roads within inches of passing vehicles. Extra attention and slower speeds while driving through construction zones are required for everyone’s safety. This is especially timely as road reconstruction work has recently begun on Main Street in Newark. Please be cautious and expect delays as you negotiate through the city. Please see the FREAS SharePoint page under Safety for more information on this topic.
