The University of Delaware’s Facilities Department is pleased to announce the launch of Single Stream Recycling throughout the University campus.
Effective September 1, 2009, the entire Newark Campus will switch to Single Stream Recycling. There is no longer a need to sort recyclable materials. The goal of this program is to dramatically increase the University’s diversion Rate.
What is Single Stream?
Single Stream Recycling eliminates the sorting function required by previous operations. University community members can now place ALL accepted recyclable items—paper, glass, plastic and cardboard into any blue recycling container on campus.
Accepted Materials
Paper: Newspaper, computer & copier paper, brown paper bags, colored paper, junk mail/envelopes, paper juice boxes, etc.
Plastic: Plastic bottles, milk jugs, shampoo bottles, empty plastic bags
Metal: Aluminum cans, food and beverage cans, empty aerosol cans, etc
